Here’s the latest from the JT Art Lab!
Quarter 1 Review: With some experimentation, we found a flow for editing our graphic novel manuscript. Edit the script a bit. Thumbnail or rough out half-page layouts. A little bit each day of one or the other. We toggled between pencil and paper and computer work depending on how much we had already stared at a computer screen for our day job.

Next Quarter: Our goal still remains: write the next draft of the graphic novel, script and rough layouts by mid year. Jane, our intuitive creative leader, is heading up this project. [Irene: This means we have to edit a chapter every 2 weeks. Starting 2 weeks ago. And our current pace has been a chapter a month… I’m sweating.]
Challenges: This doesn’t leave time for much else, let alone all of the shiny projects that keep glinting nearby. All the more motivation to finish our current book project! But, after the hard work from the last few months, we did give the manuscript a rest and gave a new novel idea some love. [Jessie: New book! Woohoo!!!] [Irene: Gulp!]
Book Recommendation: What’s getting us through this editing stage of writing and helping us embrace our current creative practice pace is the book, “The Art of Slow Writing” by Louise DeSalvo. Highly recommend.
[Irene: (looking at “The Art of Slow Writing” in one hand and our 12-week plan in the other): Uh… Jen?! We need to talk…]
You’re doing amazing, Jenny!!
